Philanthropy: First Place for Youth
More than 25,000 young people “age out” of foster care each year in the United States, and without the consistent support of family, these young adults often fall prey to unemployment, poverty, and homelessness. For over twenty years, First Place for Youth has been helping vulnerable foster youth develop the skills they need to make the transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood.
Through its flagship My First Place™ program, the organization provides its participants with a safe, stable place to call home and individualized education, employment, and healthy living supports to help them beat the odds and build a foundation for long-term success. First Place participants are over four times more likely to enroll in college and nearly three times more likely to be employed than other foster youth. First Place for Youth is headquartered in Oakland, California, and are thrilled to be partnering with Josh to help bring additional resources and his firsthand experience and journey to the organization and its participants.
